Friendship Day is celebrated on the First Sunday of the month of August. It was proclaimed as National Friendship Day by the U.S. Congress in 1935, and since then, it is being celebrated around the globe, across diverse cultures and social segments. In 1997, the famous character 'Winnie the Pooh' was declared as the world’s Ambassador of Friendship.
